Incoming Titanfall ...

Image
I'm noticing that a larger portion of my gaming these days is comprised of demo's, tech tests and free play weekends. The latest addition to the partial games taking up my Xbox One disk space is the tech test for Titanfall 2 with a First Time Play: and a following Thoughts of the Game vid: The game itself is quite enjoyable but the front-end is very cluttered and I'm going to predict that it's going to lose out against some of the other upcoming shooters coming out this season (not least Battlefield One ) and the larger names still holding their own ( Destiny , Overwatch , Halo 5 , Black Ops 3, stop me when appropriate ...). I do like this trend towards a more objective led gameplay. As popular as the deathmatch game mode has and is, I prefer this more team based approach to games (it's why I stuck with Unreal Tournament 2004 for three years) - I'm not the best aimer in the world so getting points for objective completions helps me and I'm a...

Black Ops 3 Nightmare nightmare

One day my internet will work properly again - hopefully soon enough that I'll actually be able to play GTA Online on my Xbox One. It does encourage me to play other games at least, and Xbox buddy WatchingSeven and myself have been slowly working our way through the Nightmare campaign on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 . The concept behind this is great: take the story campaign of Black Ops 3 , swop out the original story for a bioweapon virus that turns people into zombies and go! Even the cutscenes are re-used and by altering the voice-over (and removing character voices) they have been able to put a story in that uses the locales from the main campaign and 'remix' it - helps when the levels don't need to be in the order that they originally were. It's also nice to be able to play zombies and be able to utilise the cyber abilities - however Treyarch also made the decision to alter how weapons are handled. The weapons themselves are the same as you'll fine i...

little monsters everywhere

Image
So, there I am in the process of setting up a Plants Versus Zombies walkthrough on the Youtube channel. I've captured part 4 (to be uploaded soon!) and was lined up to get part 5 recorded in turn ... ... when my little monster, looking for a change from Kinect based games, and having seen PvZ on the Android tablets is interested. Her and myself are now in what would have been part 8 and she is proving to be not too bad at slowing zombies down. That walkthrough series may be a little delayed until I can work out the most convenient method to restart from the beginning, ideally on a different storage device so I don't lose the progress that she and me have made. The series starts here: On the plus side, it also means that I can look to do the Nom Nom Nom acheivement on the first available level. Bless her cotton socks, I not certain that was her intent ...

Of zombies and monsters

My mission to update on Borderlands 2 and GTAV has hit a snag - hard to update on games that I'm not currently playing ... Some of this is that real life thing again intruding - but when I do switch on the PS3 (and the X360 hasn't been on much the last few weeks), then I'm on my normal couch co-op with Mrs Zombie Killer. We've been working on our completion score in Resident Evil 6 . After finding our first run-throughs on the new PS3 didn't leave us with much ammo, we had dropped to Amateur skill for the zombie killing equivalent of a kick-about. After a chapter on that, we found that we were having to leave ammo behind so we switched up to Veteran. Mrs ZK has up'ed her game with the increase in difficulty and we've hit the stage where we now grumble about 'only' getting an A rank -my nearest miss being 0.1% of an accuracy score. I've also given Agent Hunt a try for the first time - more times than not I'm not able to connect to a ses...

And then there were three, and four, and five, and ...

Like a zombie or a Hollywood attention span, I bring this blog creakily back to life. Apologises for the extended gap between postings - Mrs Zombie Killer and I now have a little terror of our own - still a little young yet to take part. Couple this with an anti-social job, a long protracted house move and an extended commute time ... I'll cover how parenthood has altered my gaming habits another time, lets get back to the gaming. Our long suffering DS is getting a little more attention now that I have a couple of hours of travel time each working day. And thus, I've finally found the Golden Apple! Yep the first Professor Layton has been completed (116 puzzles found and solved) and only one puzzle is still eluding detection. Can't get all the weekly downloads as the WEP encryption isn't good enough for our WPA enable network. So, the next couple of Layton games are waving their arms; New Super Mario Bros is also getting me interested and I've also added Ghost Tri...

Return of the Zombies ...

So what's the latest this month. Well, as usual, I have far more games on the go than I ever get time to play. Lunar Knights on the DS is still ongoing - I believe that I'm coming to the end, though that isn't near completion. Probably a good thing though as Chrono Trigger hasn't been fired up since checking it worked a couple of months back. Valkyria Chronicles was the last game of choice on the PS3, one which I'm taking slowly but one that has really fired the strategy bug in me (oh god, another genre to want stuff from ...). Still haven't picked up any of the DLC though I probably should as the price increases have quietly started ( Age of Booty which I swear was released at £6.19 is now £7.99 - I'm really going to have to clear the decks before adding that one). And having worked our way through Lego Indiana Jones , I managed to track down a copy of Lego Star Wars: Complete Saga. This hasn't seemed as much fun, partly as I've still got the fi...
